Along with the Nokia 808 PureView, the next major Symbian update was revealed. Surprisingly it’s not the Carla, as we thought it would, but rather “Belle Feature Pack 1” , so it’s a sort of update of the Belle update. Still, it features a lot of improvements for both personalisation and performance. The FP1 is going to be available for the 603, 700 and 701 in the recent future and it’s going to bring Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus support for the devices, providing a better quality of sound, when connecting your device to a home cinema or headphones.

Nokia 808 Wins Best New Device at MWC 2012 Award

The winners of this year’s Global Mobile Awards were announced a couple of day ago, but we had to wait a bit more for one of the most interesting awards – the Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at Mobile World Congress 2012. It’s not really a surprise, that the award, which has been chosen by a special group of experts and journalists, goes to the Nokia 808 PureView, a phone, which not only impressed everyone, but also literary changed both the camera-phone and camera industries with the innovative technologies it incorporates.

Opera Mobile 12 Breaking Records for HTML5 Content Processing [Video]

Opera have decided to take advantage of the Mobile Congress and introduce the new version of their popular Android web browser – Opera Mobile. With the 12th version of the browser come a lot of improvements in the application’s code, but end-users aren’t likely to notice anything new in the interface or functionality. Opera Mobile 12 uses a new image processing engine, supports full WebGL integration and the overall processing of HTML5 content has improved a lot.

For some reason LG had decided to reveal a lot of their new phones before the Mobile World Congress. The most impressive of the device is without a doubt the LG Optimus 4X HD – a powerful Tegra 3 smartphone with a 4.7″ HD display and 1GB of RAM, all of which fitted into a slim 8.9 mm body – impressive, but hardly different from what other companies have to offer.

The LG Optimus Vu on the other hand is one of a kind – it’s somewhat close to the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Panasonic Eluga Power with its big 5″ (1024 х 768 resolution) screen, but it’s also very different, because of its 4:3 aspect ratio, which makes it look almost like a square. Still, devices with such screens have proved to be popular in the last few months, so the Vu may turn out to be quite successful, it’s specifications are certainly good enough – it has a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, clocked at 1.5 gHz and 1GB of RAM memory, along with the impressive thickness of just 8.5mm.

Most of you probably don’t know about this, but Mozilla and LG are working on a new mobile OS, called Boot2Gecko, which was expected to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress. The companies didn’t disappoint – the platform was shown on a working prototype smartphone, which surprisingly wasn’t an LG one. Boot2Gecko has a very interesting concept as a platform – it’s main idea is to be a web-based mobile OS, which uses only HTML5, but users are still going to be able to use it even without internet connection.
