In the new couple of months the first devices, using Intel’s new line of Medfield mobile chips, which were demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress recently, are going to hit the market. The chips are going to provide impressive performance , as proved in a couple of test, conducted by the German website Caschys Blog recently. As expected, Apple revealed the next generation of the iPad at their event yesterday. The device is actually called “iPad” – without any numbers or letters, and is pretty much what we expected, according to the rumors. The display is a high-resolution one (or as Apple calls such displays – Retina) at 2047×1536 pixels, which to be honest sounds a bit too much – why would you need 50% more pixels than most modern TVs have on a 9.7″ screen? In order to render this many pixels, Apple have also had to upgrade the chip – the (new) iPad 3 (iPad HD) relies on an A5X SoC, which consists of a dual-core processor and a quad-core GPU and is supposed to be 4 times as powerful as the one in the iPad 2.
