Asus Working With Google On A Nexus Tablet And More

Even though there are not evidence of Google working on a Nexus tablet, the sheer number of rumors, suggesting they are, is impressive. The latest ones state, that the company has partnered with Asus in the development of such a device, which is supposed to have a 7″ screen, feature a Tegra 3 processor and, of course, run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The rumors also suggest, that the tablet is going to cost around $200, which is going to make it a direct competitor of the Kindle Fire . Such a low price actually makes a lot of sense, because this would make it much easier for Google to catch up with Apple and their iPad.

Google have decided to take drastic measures in order to make all of their different distribution services available through the same application. From now on there will be no Android Market, no Google Books and no Google Music. All of these services are going to be combined and called Google Play, with all of the content available at the same place, not divided into different sections, like it was in the Market.

Telefonica To Offer A Smartphone Running Mozilla’s Platform

During the Mobile World Congress, Mozilla announced, that they’re going to partner with Telefonica in the development and distribution of their new web-based mobile platform. Later this year devices, using Qualcomm chips, are going to be introduced, running on the so called Open Web Devices operating system, which is based on Mozilla’s Boot2Gecko project. The company is actually using Linux as a base for their platform, but with the Gecko engine, used in Firefox, to take care of the application and interface rendering.
