Mozilla showing off a prototype smartphone running Boot2Gecko
|
Most of you probably don’t know about this, but Mozilla and LG are working on a new mobile OS, called Boot2Gecko, which was expected to be revealed at the Mobile World Congress. The companies didn’t disappoint – the platform was shown on a working prototype smartphone, which surprisingly wasn’t an LG one. Boot2Gecko has a very interesting concept as a platform – it’s main idea is to be a web-based mobile OS, which uses only HTML5, but users are still going to be able to use it even without internet connection.
Even the application are going to be available for offline use, if you have downloaded the data they require, of course. Mozilla have also shared, that they’re working with a lot of companies on this project, but no specific information was given, whether they’re partnering with another smartphone manufacturer or not.
