In the new couple of months the first devices, using Intel’s new line of Medfield mobile chips, which were demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress recently, are going to hit the market. The chips are going to provide impressive performance , as proved in a couple of test, conducted by the German website Caschys Blog recently. The device, which was used for the benchmarks was the Orange Santa Clara and the benchmarks themselves – Qualcomm Vellamo and BrowserMark. The new iPad 3

As expected, Apple revealed the next generation of the iPad at their event yesterday. The device is actually called “iPad” – without any numbers or letters, and is pretty much what we expected, according to the rumors. The display is a high-resolution one (or as Apple calls such displays – Retina) at 2047×1536 pixels, which to be honest sounds a bit too much – why would you need 50% more pixels than most modern TVs have on a 9.7″ screen? In order to render this many pixels, Apple have also had to upgrade the chip – the (new) iPad 3 (iPad HD) relies on an A5X SoC, which consists of a dual-core processor and a quad-core GPU and is supposed to be 4 times as powerful as the one in the iPad 2.

Even though there are not evidence of Google working on a Nexus tablet, the sheer number of rumors, suggesting they are, is impressive. The latest ones state, that the company has partnered with Asus in the development of such a device, which is supposed to have a 7″ screen, feature a Tegra 3 processor and, of course, run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The rumors also suggest, that the tablet is going to cost around $200, which is going to make it a direct competitor of the Kindle Fire . Such a low price actually makes a lot of sense, because this would make it much easier for Google to catch up with Apple and their iPad.

Google have decided to take drastic measures in order to make all of their different distribution services available through the same application. From now on there will be no Android Market, no Google Books and no Google Music. All of these services are going to be combined and called Google Play, with all of the content available at the same place, not divided into different sections, like it was in the Market.

During the Mobile World Congress, Mozilla announced, that they’re going to partner with Telefonica in the development and distribution of their new web-based mobile platform.
