HP trying to sell WebOS
|
Even though Hp decided to stay in the computer business, WebOS’ future is still uncertain. According to information from Reuters, HP are ready to sell the mobile platform for less than $1 billion, even though they paid Palm $1.2 billion for it last April.
A few big companies, like Amazon, Research In Motion, IBM, Oracle and Intel, have shown interest in WebOS mainly because of the patent portfolio, which it comes with. In a recent interview, HP’s CEO Meg Whitman said they haven’t decided on WebOS’ future and whether or not to make a new and improved tablet with it. According to Reuters, they won’t be able to sell it for a lot, because they haven’t invested in it. According to another source, HP bought the platform only for the patents and never intended to compete on the tablet market. B. A.
