Meg Whitman is the new CEO of HP
|After less than an year as CEO of HP, Léo Apotheker has been replaced by the board of directors with Meg Whitman – one-time candidate for California governor and former CEO of eBay. The change is effective immediately and as a compensation, Apotheker will receive company stocks worth $25. The reason, a new CEO was appointed are the constant forecasts for decreasing HP sells and the radical plan, presented by Apotheker – the plans for dividing the computer business and focusing on Cloud services and of course giving up on webOS just one year after buying Palm, which some analyzers think is good for Apple. Léo Apotheker was appointed CEO in September 2010,because the former CEO Mark Hurd was forced to resign for inappropriate business behavior and sexual harassment. B.A.
