[video] Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Kindle Fire (pre-alpha)

This is an early build of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Kindle Fire, so it’s still very buggy!

The hackers over at xda-developers have done it again – they’ve managed to make a working ROM based on Android 4.0 (CM9 to be exact) for the Amazon Kindle Fire.

The build is still in pre-alpha stage ,but it’s actually working quite well, aside from some fairly minor problems, such as the audio and overall smoothness (you can see it for yourself in the video below). This is actually the first tablet version of Android running on the Fire, so far it was relying on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which was developed for smartphones. We’re expecting this project to develop rapidly, as the Fire is a very popular device, so we’ll try to keep you informed.  B. A.
