The long awaited Amazon Kindle Fire tablet was finally unveiled and it’s even better (and cheaper) than expected. The tablet has a 7″ ISP screen, which means great viewing angles with a resolution of 1024×600,which means it’s got a pixel density of 169 ppi – not bad at all.

Amazon Kindle Fire also uses Gorilla glass, so it’s very scratch resistant.the processor is also pretty powerful – it’s a 1/1.2 gHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 (not actually confirmed, but almost certain) combined with a PowerVR SGX540 GPU clocked at 304 MHz.the battery should last up to 7.5 hours of watching videos.

Software-wise it’s running Android 2.3 (there is no Honeycomb), but the UI is changed past recognition. Of course, there are downsides – in order to make it cheaper, Amazon have decided to drop the camera and microphone. And speaking of cheaper, we haven’t mentioned the best thing about it – it’s price. At $199 this is by far the best tablet in terms of price/hardware/quality. B.A.
