HTC HD2 Windows RT Project – More News and Photos

HTC HD2 Windows RT Project

It seems that the Windows RT project for HTC HD2 is keep going and going, here we have a set of new photos coming from Cotulla’s Twitter account (twitter.com/CotullaCode/).

As you can see from the photos, Windows RT runing on the HD2 looks like Windows Phone a little bit, and especially the Store screen. Windows RT user interface is running extremely well on a 480×800 resolution, there’s no overlapping or graphic artifacts, the Metro Internet Explorer start-up time is around 6 seconds – pretty good for a 1GHz single-core processor and only 576MB of RAM without any optimizations to the browser 😀

Another piece of HTC HD2 news about the Windows RT port, this time Cotulla was able to build a custom RT version of 7Zip for ARM processors, and as you can see from the photo – the benchmark is successfully running on the HD2, this means that the RT port is still in development and we are very excited!

Here is the benchmark result:

File size: 3MB
Memory usage: 56MB
Compressing: 430 KB/s and 419 MIPS
Decompressing: 7532 KB/s and 680 MIPS

Again and again, the legend refuses to die! Here is the latest project from Cotulla and DFT – Windows RT running on the HTC HD2 (it seems to be a project, as we can see from the pictures)!

Cotulla posted the photos on his Twitter account (twitter.com/CotullaCode) and as we can see from them, the phone is running Windows RT using the latest UEFI MAGLDR version 1.10.540 that is not available to the public. We have no information about the current progress and what’s working or not, it seems that the whole project is private and there is no any other information about it, anyway that’s just another peace of love to the best smartphone ever – HTC HD2!

Here is the UtraFruit ROM from DFT/Cotulla – Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, Build 7740 for HTC HD2/LEO.

Included languages: ENG, GER, RUS, CHS, CHT.

The best thing about this UtraFruit ROM is the improved camera quality and the fixed power drain issue after every reboot.

Also, it’s fully unlocked, so you can install every apps that you want 🙂

Thank you DFT team (Cotulla, bepe, mwang, mamaich), HD2Owner, ultrashot and Julien Schapman.

WP7 Mango ROM build 7720 for HTC HD2 – released!

hd2-mango
MangoRTM build 7720 for HTC HD2 – released!

Special thanks to YukiXDA, Football, OndraSter and Cotulla!

The big news are:

A WP7 ROM for HTC HD2 which is able to update like any other devices:

  • You can use Zune for official updates or use the new tool to send some custom packages
  • You can now backup and restore your device
  • Before a new update wait for a dev test to see if a corrective package has not to be applied before

“This fantastic piece of work includes a feature that will allow devs to update the ROM via installable packages, which would be of tremendous help to both devs and users. Just think of this as the Windows Phone 7 equivalent of zip packages for Android.”

htc-hd2-usb-host

Here comes another great project from DFT and Cotulla – working USB host for HTC HD2!

This app contains drivers designed to allow you to connect different USB devices to HTC LEO (HTC HD2). Those drivers are designed for Windows Mobile 6.5 and they were successfully tested on 3.14 ROM (test it on your ROM).

Installation:

  1. Install CotullaCert.cab
  2. Install DFT_LEO_USBH_WM65.CAB
  3. Reset your device

How-to use it:

  1. Start USBH Switch from the Programs menu
  2. Press “Switch to Host” button
  3. Connect a host device
  4. After some time it should be detected
  5. You can try to use it now
  6. After usage you need to reset your phone to go back to the USB client mode

For using the USB host ability you will need a special cable or self-powered USB hub. More information can be found here
