The rumored Google tablet arriving this July?
|
The rumors about Google working on a tablet of their own have been around for quite a while now, but as summer (and hopefully its debut) is approaching, there is even more unofficial information information leaking online. The most recent rumor claims, that the manufacturing process of the tablet in ASUS’ factories is going to begin as soon as this June with the first batch expected to consist of 600 000 devices. This schedule also matches the Google I/O conference, which is going to take place in June. The software giant is known to give out gifts to the people, who attend their conference, so it wouldn’t be surprising if this year they decide to give everyone a tablet.
As some of you may know, despite its success on the smartphone market, Android is doing less than perfect on the tablet market, which is dominated by Apple with their one and only iPad. That’s why Google are expected to try and gain some positions with the release of a cheap – probably even under $200, tablet, which at the same time is powerful enough to compete with the best of them. The company is expected to sell between 2 and 2.5 million tablets until the year’s end.
We should also remind you, that at this conference Google is also expected to reveal the next version of the mobile platform – Android 5.0 Jelly Bean, which is most likely going to be additionally optimized for tablets. B. A.
