Should we expect an Amazon smartphone next year?
|
After releasing a tablet, it seems logical that Amazon aim for another big market and release a smartphone too. That’s exactly what the analyzers over at Citigroup think too – according to them, we can expect an Amazon smartphone in the second half of 2012. These suggestions are based on observations on the Asian companies manufacturing components for the western companies. So far it seems Amazon will be relying on Foxconn for the part manufacturing. Rumors so far are the device will feature a TI OMAP4 processor and will cost about $150-$170 to make and Amazon will sell it at a very low profit. If such a device really does hit the market, one thing is for sure – it will have great integration with Amazon’s App Store.
