Finally, we have the official specs from a leaked information about the new NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor (code named “Wayne”). The new SoC itself is 28nm and just like the Tegra 3 it will be build by the 4-plus-1 method (four cores + another one for some basic tasks), also in the new Tegra 4 chip all the cores are Cortex-A15 based.
Tegra 4 has the ability to encode HD videos with a resolution of 1440p (2560×1440 px.) and will support VP8 and H.264 HP acceleration. Another great features are the built-in two channel memory controller with the support of DDR3L, LPDDR2 and LDDDR3, a brand new hardware based security technology, USB 3.0 support and more. NVIDIA will present their new Tegra 4 processor at CES 2013, so stay tuned for more information and benchmarks 😀
