We already wrote about the next generation of mobile chips from NVIDIA, but had to wait for the CES 2013 exhibition to see it officially, and here is – the new Tegra 4, it will reach smartphones, tablets and laptops. As well as its predecessor, Tegra 4 relies on the quad Cortex-A15 main processor clocked at 1.9 GHz, which is complemented by a fifth core with a very low power consumption. However, this time is used a completely new architecture that includes a GeForce graphic accelerator with 72 cores – wow!

NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 processor is produced using a new 28nm technology, which is a significant improvement compared to the 40nm used in Tegra 3, which will affect not only the size of the chip, but also and its energy consumption. According to some leaked information, Tegra 4 consumes 45% less power than Tegra 3. The processor has a new technology that brings 10 times faster calculations in capturing photos and videos, for example in the HDR photography that combines multiple shots into one.
