Nokia stopping Skype for the Lumia 610

About one month after the Skype application for Windows Phone went out of its test period, Nokia announced, that they’re going to limit the customer’s access to it, at least for the owners of the Lumia 610. There is, of course, a very good reason the Finns are doing this – Skype doesn’t work well on devices with less than 512MB of RAM memory and the 610 only has 256MB at its disposal.

To be honest, Skype announced this hardware restriction a while back, but it seems Nokia just wanted to test this statement on their own. The good news is (and yes, there is good news) all of the users, who have already downloaded the application will get to keep it and use it, as unusable as this version may be. The rest of the Lumia 610 owners however won’t find Skype in the Marketplace, at least until an updated lighter version is released, which runs well on less powerful devices. B. A.
