Samsung decided not to wait until the debut of the Galaxy S III in order to tell us more about the processor used in the device. As it turns out, it’s going to be a quad-core Exynos 4212, which is manufactured using 32nm technology. Each of its cores (Cortex-A9) is running at over 1.4 gHz, but still, the energy efficiency has gone up by 20% in comparison to the older Exynos, used in the SII, which was manufactured using 45nm technology. The overall productivity is said to have doubled with this generation of Exynos processors and according to Samsung, thanks to the architecture, the processor is going to do very well with demanding tasks, such as playing 3D games, editing video and calculating simulations.

Among the processor’s other features are the possibility to turn the cored, which aren’t being used, off and even dynamic control over the voltage and clock rate, which helps make the processor even more efficient. The manufacturing of the Exynos 4 Quad has already began and we are going to see the first device, which uses it – the Galaxy SIII, on 03.05 at Samsung’s event in London. B. A.
