The HD7 will always be compared both on specifications and size to the HD2 which preceded it to the market (and ran Windows Mobile 6.5). As you can see the machines are nigh on identical with the HD7 only being different with respect to slight housing design changes and the lack of front facing controls compared to the HD2.
Even though the HD7 weighs in at some 5 grams heavier than the HD2 and is 1-2mm greater in size it feels slightly lighter and smaller, which indicates good ergonomic design by HTC’s engineers!
I got my HD7 a few days ago. Im very impressed, especially with the zune and xbox live integration! Win Phone 7 is sleek and works amazingly well. Need for Speed underground’s graphics are the best of any game I’ve ever seen on a phone. My only complaint: Where the hell is instant messaging? The positives far out=way the negatives but if some IM apps dont come out very soon my SIM is going back in my HD2 until they do. Internet sharing/tethering would be cool too.
good review. love my new hd7. easy to use, practical it’s great for web browsing and the touch screen is really responsive. and i love the little vibrate you ge when you push the buttons on the bottom. email wifi and gps is great for my business and all the games are fun. great unlocked cell phones. the facebook on the phone is great and the screen is big enough to navigate around. much better than our old unlocked blackberry phones. the camera is really great and the recorder is easy to use, great for catching family moments!! also got our blackberry unlock codes and cell phone unlocking for free!! got our last 2 at unlockthatphone.com 2 thumbs way up
Just a question …. is there anyway to put android on an hd7 or tweak it like i was able to tweak the hd2 ?…. i liked the layout of the hd2 better but the quick response and minimal lag make up for it on the hd7, i just get bored of navigating through only two main screens , i guess thats my biggest complaint other than the ability to put songs as ringtones and tweak the phone ..other than that good job htc
Sorry, but there is no way at the moment for working Android version on HD7, hope we will see something in the future.
Hi question…i have HD7 but I’m having trouble installing Zune software ..is there another way to put music / videos / photos …
Not sure about this phone… i cant change the generic ringtones, slacker raido wil not play in the background. Is there a way that when i connect the phone it appears on “my computer”?
16GB internal memory not 16Ghz… really?!?! This is a tech review.
All the HD 7 or Windows Phone 7 cribbers remind of the days of iPhone 2G. You had the same whining. But then you had Installer come in and still there was whining. Grow up people. Microsoft have delivered a superb OS in comparison to iOS4.
Have patience and let it grow. Otherwise buy a phone that full fills all your daily demands. Im sure there are plenty out there, namely Android OS Devices!
Please can anyone tell me how to set music as a ringtone?
“Carla” OMG did u read anything on this page??? You can’t, for now…..
currently i bought the htc hd7… the problem am facing now is, i have an application which in cab fies…. but the problem is i cant install it… if there is other way to install, kindly help me figure it out…. thanks, hope it can be done..
How I could tethering Htc surround?
Just got HD7 for abt a week. overall it is a nice phone for me. not as smooth to be up-and-ready smart phone as Iphone 4 that ive used for several months.
1st getting my outlook to HD7 is a chase run-around.. and guess what .. i used my mac add on software by microsoft for that ( hahaha)
Overall it is a nice phone.. i would put it at the moment a bit behind iphone, nicer then my xperia x10. But the office app was the main reason im on this phone.. and it works lovely
i just have a concern.. with 16GB .. after my music.. pic .. i hv just left with 4GB. with my iphone 4 full of app podacst.. im still with comfortable space left..
HTC should hv sd card option for it… or is it microsoft palying catch-up with apple on this by not offering it…
I was also disappointed in the lack of ability to change ring tone to mp3 files, but even more so at the inability to plug the phone in and see it as a drive like my old phone.
You HAVE to use the Zune software to transfer “files”, but those “files” are limited to photos, videos, and podcasts – you can’t transfer an Excel file, for example. Unfortunately, the Zune software stopped recognizing the phone after about 2 weeks. Upon searching for a solution (as of yet, not found, MANY hours spent trying fixes) it appears this is a common and growing problem.
Without a functioning Zune program, the only way to transfer photos is to e-mail them as attachments which takes forever if you’ve got 100+ photos. You can upload them to Skydrive, but the resolution gets cut significantly during the process (unacceptable for engineering photos). Until they fix the Zune problem, the camera is essentially useless and I’m stuck with the same mp3s which were loaded while it was still working.
My only disappointment is ringtones..i can’t stand to have one of the sleekest phones that sounds like a harp when it rings…
I am also very dissapointed at not being able to personalize ringtones, but I have been reassured by both my network provider and friends that also own the hd7 that there will be updates available to sort that out in January sometime, so fingers crossed…
Dale, you can use your own ringtones with HTC HD7, read more here:

Problem i have is with sound. using alarm sometimes crashes sound and have to reboot.
Need for speed undercover has sound problem during game making it unplayable.
Seems that there are a lot of sound glitches (hardware or software?) with this HTC HD 7 phone…. 🙁
hye can hd7 play games from fb. ect : mafia wars
For those of u that need to transfer photos u can take memory card out and put in ur laptop to transfer. Even tho it says u can’t u can. Google how to remove men card from HTC hd7.
Guys, got my HTC hd7 but having problems on ho to download flashplayer…kip on trying some fp but it says not compatible to windows phone…anyone could help me please..very much appreciated…
Is it possible to use mp3 music as a ringtone ? Cant seem to be able to do it on my HTC HD7 !!!!!!!!
Can we convert hd7 into android?
No, you cannot put Android on it, HD7 works only with Windows Phone 7 🙂
TO SET CUSTOME MUSIC ON HD7 (WINDOW PHONE)
GO TO MARKET PLACE AND CHOOSE (APPS)
AND FROM THERE DOWNLOAD (FREEMUSIC MANAGER)
IT WORKS!!!!!
