To change the touchscreen (digitizer) of HD2, you need to disassemble the front panel, separate the display from the housing, and after that take off the digitizer 🙂

Do you have pictures before first picture? I mean how many and where is a screw or other tricks to open HD2
Thx

Isn’t the digitizer glued to the LCD? I heard that it’s not easy to separate it from the LCD and also I don’t see any other mechanism hot the digitizer could be fixed on the LCD.
RIP my hd2 is dead im going to cry used the guide but my lcd is dead and no replacement to get and i have bought a new digitiser screen fuck it is a sad day

I have broken down this phone to the bezel seeking to replace the digitizer.
The stuff this photo set doesn’t show you is separating the lcd+digitizer from the plastic bezel. It is heavily glued and I used a gift card as a wedge to separate them.
Still, the digitizer and glass are glued to the LCD. Also the digitizer flex is SOLDERED to back of lcd.
I don’t know first thing about soldering. If I did, this fix would be easy.
Looks like people like myself have to wait for the digitizer+lcd bundle before we can fully repair.

The inner screen of my HD2 is broken. The touch screen is working perfectly.
I had touch screen and lcd for sell in my website, just has as look. http://www.g-plushk.com
thanks

Got the same problem. I need the digitizer + lcd coz it’s just almost impossible to remove them without damaging the thing (as I did!). So now I need to replace the whole screen assembly. Can’t find any on eBay either!
JUST FYI, the touchscreen/digitizer replacement for the HD2 isn’t a do-it-yourself. I ordered the $55 replacement touchscreen before I tore the phone down, if I had opened the phone first I would have bought the $175 touchscreen/LCD combo and saved myself the headache. You cannot seperate the touchscreen from the LCD with tools available to 98% of repair shops. You will kill the LCD. I’ve heard of some shops heating the unit in an oven to remove the glass from the LCD, I guess I’m not that sophisticated.
Thank you for this thread, it’s very helpful for all new HD2 users 🙂

Thanks. I don’t have to go to a technician to have mine cleaned. I could save now precious time and money. It’s been a hassle going to the shop in the middle of traffic and just have your cellphone opened.

I’m so tired of elecrtonics dying in my hands! 2 HTC G1s and most recently, the HTC HD2 have all died in my hands in the past 2 months. That was it! That was my back up cell phone selection! So with no back up, I’ll soon be without a cell phone entirely. I can’t believe I’m going to be one of those people, who doesn’t have a phone.
Word or advice, don’t let ANYONE borrow your cell phone “temporarily’ because you will never get it back, and if you do, it sure as hell won’t work. And don’t think it’ll be replaced! Cause it won’t. Life is a d*** and I’ll never loan anything to anyone again, even my own brother.. people just can’t be trusted to take care of your things. Once they’re satisfied, that’s all that matters.
Anyone wanna ship me a cell phone with a sim slot that works? No matter how crappy? I’m desperate here. The 1st generation android didn’t work out so well for me.. twice.
Allgood
Hi, can anyone advise how to see if HD2 screen & digitizer is correct? I mean HTC is sooo crap that they dont have model numbers / not easily identifiable 🙁 how to know & order correct part?? Ive seen several different model numbers & also read that some wont work with TMobile versions. All I see on the back is HTO1NNW04229 I tried to search on net but nothing comes up:( This cellphone manufacturer is crazy like blackberry. I wish NOKIA would make a decent handset because NOKIA is so logical dissassembly & parts very easy to order without mistake.
Can someone advise if they have managed to replace just digitizer & whether the adhesive comes included with digitizer? Ive seen many sellers selling digitizer attached to LCD but still requires soldering. Problem is the soldering is on a plastic flexistrip & this is really difficult to do without good equipment 🙁
P.S thanks to pockethacks for these photos & information <3 <3
mine got a dust… Is it easy to seperate the LCD and digitizer?
thanks.
I have the same question like Davy.
I need to change the touchscreen…is there any photo about it?
Thanks
