Windows 8 is Coming This October
|
According to trusted sources, Microsoft are planning to finish the work on Windows 8 in the Summer and to finally release the platform this October. The first wave of devices, using the new OS is going to feature both ARM-based and Intel x86 chips, but the latter are going to be much more popular – from an overall of about 50 devices, just about 5 are going to use ARM-based chips (3 of those are going to be Windows 8 tablets) and more than 40 – Intel’s chips. This is most likely due to Microsoft’s tighter grip on the hardware and overall technical specifications of the devices.
Microsoft, on the other hand, still haven’t announced an official release date for Windows 8, but a possible launch in October would let them take full advantage of the holiday season, when people generally spend a lot of money. The company is expected to hold an event in the beginning of April, on which it might also reveal its plans for the future of their platform and their marketing strategy for it.
