Samsung with the largest share of WP7 phones
|Last years HTC was the largest manufacturer of phones with Windows Mobile, but now the power balance in the smartphones industry is changed.
Since Samsung has been reported that they intend to hold the largest share of phones with Windows Phone 7, the Korean company this year expects to sell more phones with Windows Phone 7 than with Android. And although all were surprised that the Samsung is so interested in Windows phones, especially after their great success with the open source mobile operating system from Google, a study done with 1500 users with WP7 phones, showed that 51% of these smartphones are with Samsung logo . On the second place are the phones from HTC, which occupy 37%. LG and Dell finished the third and fourth place respectively, with a share of 9% and 3%.
Samsung have hit a few models with the new mobile operating system from Microsoft as Samsung Omnia 7 and Samsung Focus, which is intended for the U.S. market. HTC did not achieve the desired success with the models like HTC Surround – the smartphone that has a side opening speakers seized only 2% of the market for phones with Windows Phone 7. Furthermore, the HTC were hampered by prohibitions of the new platform, which does not allow to use custom interface from sites like Xda-Developers.com or your own custom interfaces like HTC Sense. Although hindered by Microsoft HTC, Samsung now running things in very smoothly.
