MediaTek is a leading supplier of processors for all Chinese phones and tablets, a few days ago the company announced the launch of a new quad-core processor. The new chip, which is likely to seriously undercut the prices of all quad-core powered smartphones comes with some very serious specifications. MT6589 is the first processor based on four Cortex-A7 cores, the GPU is PowerVR Series5XT. MediaTek’s processor also supports two SIM cards, 13-megapixel camera, 1080p full HD video recording and video playback, HSPA + and can even work with 3D screens such as the LG Optimus 3D and HTC Evo 3D.
According to some information, the emergence of such a chip has the real potential to seriously shake the mobile market. At least, Qualcomm and NVIDIA will have tough competition at a very low price.
