Inter showing off prototypes featuring Medfield processors
|
A lot of you have probably lost hope in ever seeing a device, which uses Intel’s Medfield processor, but the company keeps on working on it, in order to prove them wrong. Just a few days ago, MIT Technology Review have been presented with a couple of prototype devices, featuring the chip. One of them has been about as large as the iPhone 4, but much lighter, as it has been made out of plastic, due to its prototype state. The other device has been a tablet, with the size of an iPad 2, running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The idea behind these devices is to show manufacturers what kind of size they can accomplish, using this processor. According to Intel, the processor has been developed to optimize applications and enhance the overall experience, including browsing. Another interesting thing is the fact that the camera is able to shoot 10 8MP photos with a speed of 15 FPS. This has been achieved using a special addition, which improves image processing. The first devices, using this chip are expected to be released in the first half of 2012. B. A.
