Google buying a thousand patents from IBM
|
Google’s official defense strategy against the patent lawsuits is buying patents for their portfolio every time they get the opportunity. And to prove that, they have just bought 1000 patents from IBM. According to unofficial information the patents cover a range of technologies for memory and microchip production. It seems that they have little to do with mobile communications and wireless technologies – areas in which Google is particularly vulnerable because of Android. There are also rumors, that Google is interested in InterDigital’s patent portfolio, which has recently been put up for sale. B.A.
