Freescale iMX6 quad-core processor
|Freescale iMX6 was presented during CES 2011. We are expecting that it could work with up to four ARM Cortex A9 cores. The company said that i.MX 6 is up to 5 times faster than any of the current used chips. Also, they’ve promised 3D support, decoding full HD video with 60 fps and encoding with 30 fps. Adding an additional controller will prove work with e-ink displays. We expect the first quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex this year because, during the presentation, Freescale promised that first chips will be ready until end of 2011.
