Android currently holds 50% of the smartphone market

Canalys have published some interesting statistics about smartphone sales in Q2 for 56 countries around the world and Android holds the first place in 35 of them. The smartphone market has increased by 73% up to 108 million devices for the quarter. Google’s platform is currently holding 48% of the market with 52 million devices sold – this is an increase of 379% compared to last year. Apple’s iOS is the runner-up with a 20% market share and 20,3 million devices sold. Second place among the manufacturers belongs to Samsung and the third place is held by the Finns with 17 million smartphones sold. Nokia is still the leader on a lot of important developing markets such as Brasil, Russia and India, but it’s losing its market share quickly on the European market. B.A.
