Two new devices from Motorola – the RAZR and the Actv

 

Motorola have finally unveiled their new smartphone – the Droid RAZR and to be honest it doesn’t come as a big surprise. Still it’s very impressive – it’s got a 1.2 gHz processor (a TI OMAP 4430) and 1GB of RAM. The screen is a 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED – first of its kind and looks great. The most important thing about the phone, though, is its design – it has a lightweight 7.1 mm thick body and is well protected from drops with its laser-cut Kevlar back and Gorilla glass on the front. It also uses a nanotechnology called Splash Guard, which protects the device and its electronics form water. Some of the other features are an 8MP camera, recording Full HD 1080p video and a 1800 mAh battery, which is enough for up to 12.5 hours of talking-time or 8.9 hours of videos – impressive. The device is going to hit the market in the early November.

 

The other device, launched by Motorola – the MotoActv, is aimed at athletes and fitness fans. It relies on a watch form-factor and has a shock- and waterproof body and a 1.6″ Gorilla glass touchscreen. The device acts as both a music player (it chooses the music for you, based on your activity) and a heart-rate monitor. Of course the device also acts as a GPS receiver and you can connect it to your mobile phone, in order to use it to receive incoming calls or texts.
