About a month ago Sony announced they are going to buy out Ericsson’s share of Sony Ericsson for $1.5 billion and that after the deal is closed in January, phones manufactured by the company will be branded as Sony. So far no official information had been released on when to expect the first smartphones produced solely by the Japanese company, but thanks to a Sony employee, this question has been answered. According to him, the company is finally going to be renamed to Sony in mid 2012 and every phone released after that is going to bear a Sony logo. Another effect from the deal is going to be the deeper integration between the Sony smartphones and the company’s other devices, such as the Play Station. B. A.
