Samsung’s flexible displays get a name

Samsung promised us at the end of last year, that 2012 is going to be the year, in which we are finally going to see the first flexible displays on the mass mobile device market. We’re hoping, that work is going well on this specific project of theirs and meanwhile, some new information about it has leaked – the name of the displays.

They’re going to be called Youm and will be considerably thinner and lighter than the current panels, which is also going to make them a lot harder (nearly impossible, to be more accurate) to brake. Samsung say, that they have reached such results by removing a few layers from the panels. These advantages on the other hand make such displays suitable for all kinds of mobile devices. B. A.
