After Samsung released a ~5″ smartphone it seems they’ve caught on, because now Lenovo has announced a new 5″ device of theirs. It’s called the Idea Tab S2005 (or Le Pad S2005 in China) and works with Android 2.3.5 with the normal Lenovo UI tweaks and changes. The 5″ screen has a rather low resolution – just 800×480, but the processor doesn’t disappoint – it’s a dual-core Qualcomm one and runs at 1.2 gHz. The phone also has 1GB of RAM and two cameras – a 5MP (again surprising) main one and a 1.3MP front-facing one. The battery is also pretty weak compared to the Note’s – just 1680 mAh (2500 for the Note). It remains to be seen how it will fare with the 5″ screen. The smartphone is almost 10mm thick and weighs just under 200 grams. It’s going to hit the Chinese market first and so far worldwide sales have not been confirmed. B. A.
