Windows Phone Marketplace with more than 50 000 apps
|
Even though the number of apps available on a platform doesn’t guarantee quality, it’s still an important factor, when choosing a phone. This is why Microsoft were very happy to announce, that the Windows Phone Marketplace has passed the 50 000 mark and the application upload rate is increasing – even though it took a whole year to reach 40 000 apps, the last 10 000 ones were published in just 40 days.
This means it took overall about 14 months to reach 50 000 applications. In comparison, Google’s Market reached this number in 19 months and Apple’s App Store – in 12 months, but they had the advantage of selling 4 million iPhones, before opening the App Store, which attracted a lot of developers. Still Microsoft’s Marketplace doesn’t have some important apps, such as Skype or Google+ client, but we’re expecting them to fix this soon. B. A.
