Ubuntu OS for Smartphones in 2014?
|
The big news is that in the beginning of 2014, Canonical and Ubuntu Foundation will present the first mobile phone running the new mobile version of Ubuntu pre-loaded. Just like Android, the new Ubuntu OS will be based on Linux kernel and drivers with the support of ARM and x86 processors, also with some minimal modifications it will be fully compatible with most of the current Android smartphones.
The new OS will be focused on two device categories – super smartphones and budget devices, Canonical and Ubuntu Foundation also will help the operators to increase the mobile bandwidth consumed by all users on data plans.
Here we have some of the expected Ubuntu mobile features: global search, with an option for voice and text commands, compatibility with native and HTML5 apps and great list of settings for user customizations.
