Smartphone users to reach 1 billion in 2016

A market research company, called Forrester, has decided to make a forecast about the development of the smartphone market in the next 4 years. According to their expectations, in 2016 there will be over 1 billion smartphone users and 25.6% of them are going to be located in the USA. A major part of the tablet users are also expected to be American citizens – about 126 million of them. According to this forecast, three companies – Apple, Google and Microsoft, are going to control the mobile market with an overall share of 91% in the smartphone and 98% in the tablet market. The number of public Wi-Fi hot-spots is going increase even faster – from the current 1.3 million to 5.3 million in just four years, in order to make up for the demand for Internet access by all smartphone users. The agency also says, that the income from mobile apps is going to drastically increase – from $6 billion for this year to $55.7 billion in 2015. B. A.
