Samsung have outsold Apple last year
|
Even though Apple finally manged to get back to the top as number one smartphone selling company in the last quarter of 2011, they still sold less smartphones than Samsung for the whole year. This information has just been announced by a company called Strategy Analytics, according to which, a grand total of 488,5 million smartphones were delivered in 2011, which is quite a lot more than 2010, when “only” 299 million of the devices were sold. Both Samsung and Apple have increased their market share for the past year, but the Koreans’ achievement is much more impressive – rising from 8% in 2010 to almost 20% last year, in comparison to the Americans, who managed to get from 15,9% a couple of years ago to 19% last year. Nokia on he other hand are losing their ground fast, having decreased their share from 33,4% to 15,8% in just one year. B. A.
