Samsung Epic is Sprint’s second 4G phone
|Sprint and Samsung have officially announced the Samsung Epic, which will stand alongside the HTC EVO 4G in Sprint’s quickly-growing 4G line-up. The Samsung Epic, which Samsung is describing as a “Galaxy S smartphone”, is a monster on paper. The Epic is 14.2 millimeters thick and features the less obtrusive TouchWiz 3.0, Samsung’s exclusive 4″ Super AMOLED screen, front and rear-facing cameras, 802.11 n, and Samsung’s 1GHz Hummingbird processor. The phone is styled differently than AT&T’s Captivate and T-Mobile’s Vibrant, as it shares some styling cues with its predecessor, the Samsung Moment.
The 5.0 megapixel rear camera has an LED flash and is capable of recording videos at 720p. The Epic will ship with a 1500mAh battery, which appears to be Sprint’s standard for their new line of smartphones. Sprint’s official webpage for the Epic states that the phone features a 6-axis accelerometer for increased responsiveness during games and will also ship with Swype pre-installed. Interestingly, the webpage also mentions that the phone will have access to e-books from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Skiff and Kobo.
Thanks with regard to the information, I am truly looking forward to the Samsung Epic 4G, although I have always been incredibly curious in gadgets, for a long time I have already been searching for my very first smartphone and I did not acquire it yet. The reasons are quite simple: each several of months there is a revolution in the market (tough to consider!) and prices right here in Brazil are very abusive. Maybe I would enter this world in fantastic style with a Samsung Epic 4G. I hope so.
Already been engaged in cellular communications as an RF engineer since 1982 when I worked for Motorola. Had Blackberrys for the previous eight years or so, but just pre purchased a Samsung Vibrant from Tmobile. Want some new capabilities as well as a new Operating system to play with. I’m disappointed that T-mobile has switched away from the wifi hotspot feature in the Samsung Vibrant, but I’m sure someone will certainly figure out exactly how to root it as well as add the feature back again in. I’m now transporting a wifi only iPad and want to wirelessly tether it to the phone. Looking forward to getting my new phone!
Just purchased a Mythic for myself and are going to be acquiring 1 for my wife soon! It has just the right mix of characteristics. just short of a full smartphone. I’m maintaining an eye around the Captivate for a prospective future cell phone…selling prices are way too higher when released. I’ve been in great tech for 20+ many years and essentially hack almost everything I very own to create it far better laptops, GPS, auto navigation devices, and so on. and yes cell phones too. From the number of days I’ve owned the mobile phone I have previously installed Opera Mini, Bolt 2.1, freecaddie, Google Maps w/GPS functionality, deleted all locked unproductive apps following backing them up and fully modified the menu program to my exact demands with no all useless apps.
