Preventing your Windows Mobile phone from using GPRS/3G/EDGE data connection
Your phone automatically sets up the data connection based on your SIM card when you turn on the phone for the first time.
When you access the Internet (such as when you search the Web, check email, or check the latest weather), your phone automatically turns on the data connection.
Prevent your Windows Mobile phone from using the data connection when you want to ensure that it will never connect to the Internet via GPRS/3G.
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
2. Tap Menu > Connections and then tap Add a new modem connection.
3. Enter Offline as the name of the connection.
4. In the Select a modem list, select Cellular Line (GPRS), and then tap Next.
5. Enter Offline as the access point and then tap Next.
6. Tap Finish.
7. Tap Manage existing connections and then select Offline.
8. Press BACK and then tap Done.
After selecting Offline your phone will display a message that it’s unable to connect when you try to access the Internet. To connect to the Internet again, you can use Wi-Fi or restore the data connection.
Restoring the data connection
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
2. Tap Menu > Connections and then tap Manage existing connections.
3. Tap the name of your mobile operator’s data connection.
4. Press BACK and then tap Done.
When you access the Internet (such as when you search the Web, check email, or check the latest weather), your phone automatically turns on the data connection.
