Almost an year ago, Apple launched its touch screen tablet which was only 9.7 inches in length, with great apps. So it was just like a bigger iPhone. And now just within the year, Apple has launched a subsequent model which was to be launched on 11th March, 2011. This new generation model is called the iPad 2.

The new Apple iPad 2 is certainly sleeker in design. It has rounded corners; therefore it feels smoother to hold. You’ll feel that you can curl up your fingers more easily around this one. Apple has produced an even thinner and slightly smaller version than the original one; iPad 2 is even thinner than the iPhone. So you definitely got a sleeker gadget in your hands. The original iPad is around 13.4 mm thick whereas the new one is around 8.8 mm thick. It weighs around 680 grams and so it is 80 grams lighter than the original iPad; so undeniably you have an even lighter gadget this time.

With all of the design variations that Apple has put into this version, it almost feels as if it is made of plastic and might need a protective coating. But this is not the case because the back is actually metal. However the metal sheet at the back thinner than the original which is why the whole tablet feels 15% lighter than the first version.
iPad 2 also comes with a front facing VGA camera as well as a back facing camera which is obviously missing in the original one; both of these cameras can take pictures and make movies. Now you can edit movies and share pictures with your friends.

Now lets talk about the price and the specs of these two. Amazingly both iPad and iPad2 are available for the same price. The specs – iPad 2 definitely is upgraded as compared to its older the version. The original iPad has a 1GHz single-core A4 processor whereas iPad2 runs with 1GHz dual-core A5 processor; this makes the iPad 2 definitely faster than the older version and it has got faster graphics which is going to improve the gaming even more.
