Google Earth 1.1 for Android
Here is the latest Google Earth version 1.1 for all Android users, after more than four months since the previous version 1.0, released last April.
Given the summer release, the developers of Google have decided to make available the opportunity to discover on your Android smartphone even the marine world, which is well known as 3 / 4 of the planet. Just zoom in a marine area and goes to see what lies beneath the surface of the water. As per tradition of Google, there is also a new layer that lets you explore the depths even better, with hundreds of photos and videos from employees of all kinds.
This is for all devices running Android 2.1. The lucky people who already use devices with Android 2.2, however, can also use Flash within the program and you can then view the video directly to Google Earth in cartoons. Simplified further controls in order to make it even easier to travel and observe the surrounding environment.
The find Google Earth – get it for free on Android Market.

MeeGo is Nokia’s answer to Android
Intel and Nokia have been working on it together to try and bring new life into Nokia’s product offerings. It’s got potential. Currently MeeGo is still in “pre-alpha” mode and the UI is still developing. The Nokia version of the UI is very heavily “Nokia influenced”, rather than Intel’s UI for netbooks and tablets. MeeGo is a Linux-based, open-source operating system which includes various API’s and is finger-friendly, just like Android!
“MeeGo is an open source, Linux project which brings together the Moblin project, headed up by Intel, and Maemo, by Nokia, into a single open source activity. MeeGo integrates the experience and skills of two significant development ecosystems, versed in communications and computing technologies. The MeeGo project believes these two pillars form the technical foundations for next generation platforms and usages in the mobile and device platforms space.”

The original driver didn’t work well on some Snapdragon devices (the LG Expo, for example), and on some ROMs also didn’t work very well, according to some. The new one works on the programs, games, and devices I have tested it on so far, namely OGLCubes, Electopia, GLBenchmark, Manila/TF3D/Sense(/whatever), on a stock (NLD) HTC HD2.
How to test it?
First of all, test if all your apps and games still work. If an app/game does not start at all anymore, go into CF3DConf and set the application’s driver to “Original”. That should let it start again.

This is a cab file which overwrites the standard PowerOffHint.exe in the Windows directory with a copy of JWMD Phone Reset version 1.2b. What this means is that when you perform a long press on the power button of your Toshiba TG01 it will now load JWMD Phone Reset application, which has the added option of resetting your device.

If you have been looking forward to a Ubuntu port for HTC HD2, well you got it now. Just moments ago HTC_Linux tweeted the link to the very first release of Ubuntu port on the HD2. The ported version has been seen quite often from sites not just our own, and now you can try it out on your own. The file is quite large, around 655MB and so the file takes a long time to download.

HTC Wildfire announced today, on contract with – Orange, Vodafone, Tmobile, O2 offers UK

It is essentially a slimmed down version of the HTC Desire and will be free on contracts of around 15.00 –20.00 GBP per month. We have been saying for a while that this is where Android will truly beat Apple. There is a gap for phones that are inexpensive, but can still run apps. Not everyone can afford iPhone prices and with the introduction of lower costing Android handsets, we can expect the Android App marketplace to grow considerably over the next year. We have had a quick hands on with the device and we have to say that we really like it. If you want Desire style functionality on a budget the HTC Wildfire is definitely the way to go. Watch this space for more information on this handset.

WM6.1 Build 21127 RealVGA fast ROM for HTC Universal
- both 64 and 128 roms use XPR compression – much faster than Uni’s default LZX
- all modular exe/dll/cpl/mui/tfx/plg components have useless sections stripped thanks to bepe’s platformrebuilder. This saves ram, virtual memory and other resources
- mp3dmod and msdmo dlls included to allow support for apps that use them (pocketplayer and google’s youtube app, probably others too).
- AKU bug fixed to make Market work properly (thanks responderman)
- Drivers completely rebuilt. I had no choice, PlatformRebuilder crashed while building the old driverset as most of the modules were pre-stripped. I’ve also made an attempt to fix some audio choppiness in A2DP, but it’s difficult to test as my A2DP headset is very bad at A2DP. Handsfree is definitely working fine.
- Smaller wince.nls used to save ROM+RAM
- Yet more unused files and modules removed.
- Opera Mini 5 added. This version runs native, unlike previous java-based opera minis. It’s a very fast browser with low memory footprint (about 6mb with a single tab).
64mb versiom has 4.0mb Pagepool. 32.5 Mb free RAM on clean boot with 200+contacts and appointments synced)
128mb version has pagepooling disabled
Flash Disk enabled
Extended ROM enabled

Windows 95 running on HTC HD2

Wanna get a real OS on your HD2? Here it is – a fully working version of Windows 95 ready to go!
Windows 95 for HTC HD2 itself works pretty fast once the vga drivers and all components are properly installed ,there is one issue with the mouse icon, and few other glitches, but still nice and usable. Also some games works, StarCraft being one of them and its quite playable, even the intro and cd sound works (though lags a bit) it’s by no means as fast as the pocketstarcraft port, but this is the real thing, all units and BroodWar expansion on it so its quite a nice!

Mozilla Firefox Fennec shows off on Google Nexus One and Motorola Droid
The dreams come true to all mobile users out there – a better browser comes to the market, there is a lot of rumors about Mozilla’s Fennec, but nothing about the Android version of this mobile Firefox browser until today. We have two photos that shows Nexus One and Motorola Droid running a full (landscape mode too), non-mobile optimized version of Mozilla Firefox. Now, it seems that with the full version working well, some of Firefox’s features have been ported to its mobile cousin called Fennec on the Android platform. At this point, the shots are just being teased around and no release date has been established.
