HTC Mondrian and HTC Mozart confirmed by HTC

July 9th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in News

http://mphonenews.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/d65a9_htcmozart.png

Both the HTC Mondrian and HTC Mozart, both confirmed to be running Windows Phone 7 by the browser ID, which is listed as “Microsoft Internet Explorer Mobile 7”,

The HTC Mondrian’s XML is here and the HTC Mozart’s is here.

The MMS info does not reveal too much, except that both devices predictably have WVGA screens and also that they are both slates without keyboards. The XML also references supported Bluetooth profiles, and we can see support for A2DP, Object push and of course the various hands-free profiles. At least we know, unlike the iPhone, Windows Phone 7 will support A2DP and MMS at launch

Zune HD vs. KIN Two – video comparison

May 19th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in News

Here we have a PocketNow.com video  comparison between the Zune HD and the KIN Two.

Both devices are paired with a Zune Pass subscription so that you can get the full experience. What’s certainly awesome about having a phone with Zune Pass support built in is that you have streaming Zune pass and music download support from anywhere that you’ve got internet reception. So say you’re in the car and a passenger wants to know if you have any so-and-so music on there… no problem! Type it in and download or stream that music right away. (Zune Pass subscriptions cost $15/month, include unlimited DRM music download plus 10 unprotected MP3s to keep each month.)

iPhone 3G running Android OS

May 10th, 2010 1 Comment   Posted in Android OS, Hacks, News

Now, the iPhone 3G is shown off on video running Android and the only missing thing there is audio support, otherwise most other features are good to go. For iPhone users, perhaps this may be somewhat of an alternative for a native Google Voice app by booting into Android. Other potentials for this would be Adobe Flash support on Apple’s hardware, though admittedly not through the native OS, with newer versions of Android.

Another modded TCPMP build for Windows Mobile

February 21st, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Hacks, News

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8890/tcpmpscreenportrait.jpg

This is the latest TCPMP build for Windows Mobile devices.

Whats new in this build:

Working equalizer, some updated codec libraries:  flac (updated to version 1.21 gains almost the same benchmark values compared to coreplayer), matroska parser (note that matroska support was broken due to changes in mkv format, now it works fine), latest ffmpeg static build (without avcodec and avutil dll’s). Contains merged flv1 and flv4 plugins (implemented into ffmpeg.plg and splitter.plg). Built in subtitle support be sure to visit homepage of that plugin for more information how to use it and limitations. Contains modified language.tgz file (enables usage of wmv dll’s and allows to play wmv files, dll’s isn’t included) thanks to frmariam for mentioning this (be sure to visit his magic stash related to tcpmp on mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=f…71ee60c1ce7296)
Fixed cab installer, able to install into Storage Card.
And finally some eyecandy – added skin support for player, supports both landscape and portrait modes.
This is similar to older tcpmp-0.71j build, (note that skin support is in early development stage so some bugs may appear if you don’t like the way it works just dont’t put skin files into TCPMP dir and use default interface)

Installation instructions:

  • Be sure to uninstall old tcpmp before installing
  • Download the new build
  • Unpack
  • Install
  • Pick suitable skin for your screen resolution and extract contents of archive to TCPMP directory
  • Pick suitable ffmpeg plugin for your device (ffmpeg.plg in cab is provided for compatibility purposes)

What about multitasking in Windows Phone 7 Series?

February 16th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in News, Windows Phone 7 Series

windows phone 7 series What about multitasking in Windows Phone 7 Series?

So here’s the story on multitasking in Windows Phone 7. According to the director of Windows Phone:

The core operating system is a modern multitasking operating system. If you play music for example, the music will play back as you navigate around the experience…if you’re using email, we have great support for push email and that happens in the background.
For third party applications—we’ll get into a lot more detail on this in MIX—but we have a few ways we’re going to make sure that third parties can bring their value to the user even when the app is not running. Live tiles are an example. Data feeds in the hubs are another example for some apps.
