N64oid – Nintendo 64 emulator for Android

N64oid is the name of the emulator, it costs just over 4 EU and is compatible with Android 2.0 or higher. Through it you can run games at a speed more than reasonable with a lot of sound effects. It will be perfect if you have some high-end device such as a Nexus S, Motorola Milestone, Samsung Galaxy etc.

The emulator allows you to save / load state of a game at any time, but the best thing is another. With applications like Wiimote Controller is completely free and easy to configure, easy to use the gamepad on the Nintendo Wii, if you have one, to check the games on our phone.

This is the first release of N64oid, you can change key mappings, and make small changes to how it copes with framerate drops, but that’s about it. If you have hardware buttons, or a Wiimote, you can disable the virtual gamepad, too. The save-game feature is flawless, however – and the accelerometer control is surprisingly accurate and responsive.

Game support seems to be good, it’s impossible to say if support is universal – but it supports Ocarina of Time, which is one of the most complex Nintendo 64 games, so it probably supports most of the games.

Ubuntu for HTC HD2 v0.3 released

Ubuntu is a full Linux desktop distribution – and it’s not designed for smartphones. But with the large touchscreen, high display resolution and fast system speed of the HTC HD2, Ubuntu is easily available to HD2 end all users!

Install:

Extract the linux folder to the main directory(!) of your Storage Card.
If the linux folder is not located in the main directory of the Card,it will not work.
Note: This will not touch your phone’s internal memory. Windows Mobile or other Linux/Android builds remain unchanged.

Quickstart:

Save all your current work and start the HaRET exectuable to boot Linux.
Watch the system boot up fully until you see a graphical desktop interface.
It is useful to set the CPU speed up for better performance. Tap the CPU speed meter in the mid of top bar.
Use shutdown icon in the home menu to bring the system down savely.

Windows Phone 7 – smoother than Dual Core Tegra2 Android device

This is a simple test comparing the scrolling speed of both phones and the responsiveness of the pinch zooming. We personally feels the Android OS is a bit slow and it doesn’t seem the upgraded hardware or the 2x cpu fix’s this issue.
