The most popular WP7 devices in February

March 21st, 2011 No Comments   Posted in News

An interesting statistics about the most popular 10 smartphones with Windows Phone 7 in February, courtesy of the company mtiks, which offers software for statistics on the use of mobile applications for iPhone, Android and WP7. Firstly, and obviously the most popular phone is Samsung Focus, but the overall share of HTC devices is much larger because they participate more smartphones in the rankings, LG is the latest in popularity. Of course these statistics rather reflects the popularity of smartphones with WP7 in North America because many countries still offer only Samsung Omnia 7. In Europe, probably the most common brand is HTC.

HTC HD2 with Windows Phone 7 is faster than HTC HD7

February 19th, 2011 2 Comments   Posted in News, Windows Phone 7 Series

HTC HD2 vs. HTC HD7 speed test.

But if we can get some details, the HD2 is faster because it’s running the ROM with the new update, the same one Samsung Omnia 7 has that increases speed. The first major OTA Windows Phone 7 update will mean every WP7 device will be fast.

Samsung Omnia 7

December 6th, 2010 1 Comment   Posted in News, Reviews, Windows Phone 7 Series

There is a common belief that your first products do not always tend to be good. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Samsung Omnia 7 as it seems that Samsung has hit the gold with their very first attempt in making the smart phone that runs on the new Microsoft windows operating system.

The Samsung Omnia 7 shares much of its hardware the Samsung Galaxy S, which is widely regarded as one of the best phones to be launched in recent times. As a result, the Samsung omnia 7 has the Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that measures 4 inches in size. Despite boasting such a huge size screen, the phone weighs only just over 130 g. The phone is available with an 8 GB or 16 GB of memory storage as standard. Only internal memory can be used in this phone has there is no support for additional memory cards.

This has a camera that captures images in all of its five megapixel glory. There are also features like geo-tagging and image stabilisation in this camera as is the HD video recording capability. Like most other high-end smartphones, this Samsung Omnia 7 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz processor, which is more than powerful enough to run the new operating system from Microsoft. It is not just about entertainment as it has also business features like full e-mail support and applications like Microsoft office document viewer and editor. The phone is being powered by a 1500 mAh rated battery. Samsung announced this phone along with a cluster of the phones and this phone is available for purchase in the UK. One of the best ways to get this phone in your hands is to choose contract options from various providers, which is available from as low as £ 25 a month.

Samsung with the largest share of WP7 phones

November 28th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in News, Windows Phone 7 Series

Last years HTC was the largest manufacturer of phones with Windows Mobile, but now the power balance in the smartphones industry is changed.

Since Samsung has been reported that they intend to hold the largest share of phones with Windows Phone 7, the Korean company this year expects to sell more phones with Windows Phone 7 than with Android. And although all were surprised that the Samsung is so interested in Windows phones, especially after their great success with the open source mobile operating system from Google, a study done with 1500 users with WP7 phones, showed that 51% of these smartphones are with Samsung logo . On the second place are the phones from HTC, which occupy 37%. LG and Dell finished the third and fourth place respectively, with a share of 9% and 3%.

Samsung have hit a few models with the new mobile operating system from Microsoft as Samsung Omnia 7 and Samsung Focus, which is intended for the U.S. market. HTC did not achieve the desired success with the models like HTC Surround – the smartphone that has a side opening speakers seized only 2% of the market for phones with Windows Phone 7. Furthermore, the HTC were hampered by prohibitions of the new platform, which does not allow to use custom interface from sites like Xda-Developers.com or your own custom interfaces like HTC Sense. Although hindered by Microsoft HTC, Samsung now running things in very smoothly.
