Keycase Pro Folio for iPad 2 – review

July 4th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Accessories, News, Tablets

I’d say the main selling point of the Keycase Pro Folio is that it has hard keys on the keyboard instead of the usual silicone ones so its a great rival to the Zagg.

Whats makes this one of the best iPad 2 accessories available is that unlike other bluetooth keyboards which use silicone keys, the Keycase Pro Folio has hard keys, making it more professional and durable. The hard keys not only make the keyboard easier to use, but they prevent it from being damaged and allow you to access a number of the iPad 2‘s features from the keyboard.

In order to make the keyboard quick and easy to use it has active pairing, meaning once it’s initially set up with the iPad 2, the keyboard will automatically connect to your iPad 2 every time both have their Bluetooth switched on.

Another great  feature which has been upgrade is the material of the folio, which is now tough, tear proof material with iternal padding to provide extra protection without taking away the original style.  The folio itself is thinner than it’s predecessor and features a unique honeycomb pattern, making it both fashionable and professional.

A further upgrade to the Keycase Pro, comes from an integrated velcro multi-view desk stand, which allows you to poition your iPad 2 at any angle.  This makes typing and surfing on the internet easier and more comfortable.  When the case is closed, the velcro strips transforms to provide extra protection for the iPad 2′s screen, even though using an iPad 2 screen protector with the Keycase Pro Folio is advised for ultimate protection.

Solar powered screen protector

March 25th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in News

A small company called Wysips has created the world’s first photovoltaic screen protector. The super-thin (less than 100 microns!) covering would go over the screen of your phone (or tablet, or iPod touch, or ebook reader) and constantly supply the battery with solar power.

You would still be able to use the device’s touch screen unhindered – in fact, the performance of your device would be totally unchanged. The typical smartphone could charge completely in six hours under direct sunlight, or longer under indoor light. But even more exciting is the fact that the covering would constantly top-up your phone’s battery, meaning that you have to charge via a wall plug much less often.

How-to fix bubbles, dirt or fingerprints behind your screen protector

January 23rd, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Mods, News, Tweaks and Tricks

For all the people that have bubbles, lint, dirt or fingerprints behind their phones screen protector from a fumble or rushed, botched install – here is the guide:

It is a little known fact that “most” of the screen protectors are completely washable. The “sticky” side wont wash off or smear or in any way ruin.

How-to:

1. Peel it off.
2. Run under water and use your hand to remove lint, dirt specs, smudges ect.
3. Hold by the corner tightly (little as possible) with an absorbant towel and shake vigorously in front of a fan or air purifier (better) until completly dry.
NOTE. Slowly air drying will leave water spots from impurities in the water. Purified water may solve this problem.
4. Clean the screen.
5. Reapply the protector, but carefully this time.
6. Repeat if necessary for perfect clean lay.

The best Samsung Galaxy S cases

August 7th, 2010 1 Comment   Posted in Accessories, News

The Samsung Galaxy S has been out for a few weeks now and cases for it are starting to arrive in the shops, so we thought it’s time to write something about. Samsung Galaxy S cases range from fitted leather cases, through to slim fitting silicone cases, but not all cases are made equal, so here we have only 5 of the most popular Galaxy S cases to see how well they protect the phone.

FlexiShield Skin For Samsung Galaxy S

If you want a case for your Galaxy S but don’t want a leather case, or maybe you prefer a case that is a bit more practical, then a FlexiShield Skin will probably be a better option. FlexiShield Skins are thicker and tougher than standard Silicone Cases and add very little bulk to your phone.

They give your phone more bounce if (and when) you drop it! It has a non slip feel to it and covers all of the back of the handset, leaving the camera free for you to take your photos. The screen of your Galaxy S isn’t covered though, so I’d recommend using this case with a Samsung Galaxy S Screen Protector.

If you don’t want the added bulk of a case, but still  want to protect your phone, then an InvisibleShield is a great option. It’s a tough, thin plastic film that covers all of your phone. I’ve been a fan of these for a while now as they do such a good job. Fitting them is a little bit fiddly, but the end result is well worth it. As they don’t add a lot to the bulk of your handset, you can easily use them with most other cases and covers.

The PDair Flip Case is another Galaxy S case in classic leather, which opens from the top in a flip-action.  It has easy access to all controls, and also boasts PDair’s custom clip which allows the case to be worn on the belt at any angle.

This is one of our most popular style of phone case. It’s a simple carry pouch that has a stitched in belt loop on the back. It has a soft lining that helps keep the screen of your phone clean and free from fingerprints. The front flap has a magnetic fastening that keeps your phone secure.

A smart phone deserves a smart case and you don’t get much more smarter than a Noreve Case. There are two styles of Noreve case, Traditional A and Traditional C. Traditional A are leather flip cases, Traditional C are leather Pouches. This leather pouch is a simple but stylish way to stop your Galaxy S from getting scratched and scuffed.

Top must have accessories for the HTC Wildfire

July 14th, 2010 3 Comments   Posted in Accessories, News

The HTC Wildfire is the baby brother to the HTC Desire. Visually they look quite similar, but when you look a little closer you’ll spot a few key differences. The Wildfire has a slightly smaller, lower resolution screen, that doesn’t drain your battery so quickly, touch sensitive controls and is generally smaller and lighter.

You get a few Wildfire Accessories in the box to start you off, but if you really want to make the most of the phone, there are a number of accessories that are well worth investing in.

1. HTC Wildfire Screen Protector

If you’re only going to invest in one accessory for your Wildfire then it really needs to be a screen protector. The screen on your phone is the most vulnerable part of the handset, damage it and it could render your phone useless. This screen protector is made by HTC specifically for the Wildfire and is a perfect fit. It doesn’t interfere with the touch sensitive controls at the bottom of the screen or the earpiece at the top of the display.

2. HTC PO S530 Carry Pouch

Another accessory from HTC that’s made specifically for the Wildfire is the PO S530 Carry Pouch. What makes this one stand out is the built in pull strap. When your phone is in the case the strap tucks in and prevents your phone from falling out, but when you want to remove your phone, just give the strap a gentle tug and it will raise your phone from the case quickly and effortlessly. The case is made from a high quality leather and has a soft interior that helps keep the screen clean and prevent scratches.

3. HTC CC C200 Car Charger

Ask any smartphone owner about their battery life and you’ll be met with a pretty negative response. Even though the battery in the Wildfire out performs that of the HTC Desire, it’s still going to drain quickly as soon as you start using your phone in the car with any GPS apps  - Sat Nav in particular.

The HTC CC200 is a genuine HTC accessory that will keep your Wildfire charged in the car. Unlike some cheaper car chargers, the CC200 is powerful enough to charge the phone even when it’s being used for GPS.

4. Sandisk 16GB Memory Card

The 3.5″ screen on the Wildfire is great for looking at photo’s, watching movies and playing games, but the limited internal memory means that you’re not going to be able to store much on the phone without replacing the memory card. The HTC Wildfire supports memory cards of up to 32GB in size, but considering the processing power of the phone I’d suggest sticking to 16GB for now.

5. Sony Ericsson MW600 Stereo Bluetooth Headset

You might think it strange to see a Sony Ericsson headset in a list of accessories for a HTC phone, but the truth is this is one of the best bluetooth headsets available at the moment. It’s incredibly compact and is designed to be either hung around your neck or clipped on to your clothing.

The main body of the headset packs a lot in to a small space. It’s a multipoint headset that allows you to use it with a phone and a music device at the same time. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack so that you can use any standard 3.5mm headphones with it. What really makes it stand out though is the built in FM Radio.  Smart phone users have been crying out for an FM radio to be added to the phones, but the manufacturers seem to be ignoring their requests.

10 of the best HTC Legend cases

May 29th, 2010 3 Comments   Posted in Accessories, Android OS, News, Reviews

The HTC Legend is an excellent upgrade to the HTC Hero that launched last summer. It’s faster, has an improved display as well as a fresher, smoother look. It’s the first phone to have a ‘Unibody’ housing, carved out of a single block of aluminium. This makes it tough and rigid, but also prone to scratches and dents – ask any MacBook Pro owner!

1. FlexiShield Skin for HTC Legend

Flexishield skins are the most popular case that we sell for touch screen phones. They’re a tough, flexible gel case that covers the back, sides and corners of your Legend. It’s moulded to accommodate the chin of the phone and doesn’t interfere with charging sockets, headphone ports or volume keys. It does a great job of protecting the aluminium frame of your phone, but doesn’t cover the screen, so a HTC Legend Screen Protector is a worthwhile investment.

2. HTC PO S491 Legend Standard Leather Pouch

The Legend is a smart looking phone that needs a smart looking case. The S491 has been designed specifically to accommodate the ‘chin’ on the Legend. It’s a pouch style case that made from a high quality leather with a soft lining that helps to keep your screen fingerprint free.

Case-Mate for HTC HD2 / T8585 Barely There (Black Rubber) customer review

March 8th, 2010 1 Comment   Posted in Accessories, News, Reviews

Picture%206Picture%2010Picture%208

Case-mate have a new collection of HTC HD2 cases. This one is particularly interesting, given the sleek looks of the HTC HD2, is the Barely There cases, which are made of impact resistant flexible plastic and only covers the back and corners of the HTC HD2.  The case however also comes with a full-face screen protector to provide all-round protection.

Here is the review from NightFire123 @ XDA-Developers forum:

For me it was clear that I have to protect the camera and still have a sleek design.

The case itself comes in a plastic box with some micro fibre cleaning cloth and a screen protector.
There are no edges or burrs that could hurt the HD2. The whole case is covered with a rubber finish just like the HD2, but I don’t think as resistant (no scratches yet).

There are also some bad points I want to mention. If you want a case that you put on once and never/only a few times pull off, this is your way, but if you do it like me pull it off every day to put in a cradle you have to face some scratches on the original rubber on the hd2.

The screen protection is not so good; after two days there are a lot of scratches on it, so maybe I’ll peel it off.

It does fit the screen nicely however and there are no issues with the proximity sensor

I have to say that this is in my opinion the best way to protect the camera and to save the smart design of the beloved HD2.

Case-mate, who is one of our sponsors, have a new collection of HTC HD2 cases. The ones I find particularly interesting, given the sleek looks of the HTC HD2, is the Barely There cases, which are made of impact resistant flexible plastic and only covers the back and corners of the HTC HD2.  The case however also comes with a full-face screen protector to provide all-round protection.
