Apple and Google to release accessories for smartphones
Even though most users tend to think the direction of the whole market is determined by just a few important products every year, it’s actually quite common for companies to work on the same concepts in the same time, without knowing what the competition is up to. It seems that’s the case with the latest smartphone accessories, which are going to enhance your phone in many ways (according to the ads, anyway).
New York Times have just announced, that both Apple and Google have been testing such products in the past months. What you should expect from Apple is a bracelet, which you’ll be able to wirelessly connect to your iPhone and control via Siri. The idea is that users are going to interact with their phones indirectly, which will make the usage of some services much quicker and more discreet. Google are also working on such a project and they have even hired Apple and Nokia employees to work on it. It’s still unknown when these products are going to be released.

Charging cradles with HDMI out

Charging cradles with HDMI out - what it is that makes these so great is that the HDMI out uses MHL technology meaning that the cradle charges and syncs at the same time! So you can sit and see all your videos and images on your TV, but your phone won’t loose any of it’s precious juice as it’s charging at the same time – pretty good really. The cradle itself doesn’t have a large footprint and positions your handset at the perfect angle for surfing the web, sending emails and playing games – so it’s a good cradle to have on your bedside table!

Motorola won’t be the only Nexus producer from now on
After it was announced, that Google is buying Motorola, a lot of people tought that the next Nexus phones will only be Motorolas. Happily for the users and the phone manufactorers, Google announced that this isn’t the case – they’ll continue choosing the companies the same way they have so far. The Nexus phones are the first devices on the market to offer the newer versions of Android and they’re also the best devices hardware-wise. And even though they don’t sell in large numbers, they’re important for the prestige of the companies. Earlier this year Motorola became the first company to offer a tablet running Android 3.0. B.A.

Smartphones aren’t exactly cheap and they hold a lot of important information, so it isn’t surpising, that Amazon’s CEO has patented an airbag for phones. The technology is going to use the phone’s accelerometer to set the airbag, while the device is falling in order to soften the impact and reduce the damage on the phone. In the patent documents it’s also mentioned that the falling speed could also be determined with lasers to help determine if it’s actually falling or sits in your pocket. Another interesting thing mentioned in the documents is the possibility to recognise the terrain and if it’s hard or soft. B.A.

When presented the impressive N9, Nokia declined to specify when the device will be on sale, but instead promised to provide information later. There is still no information about the final date when the first and maybe the last phone with MeeGo will be in the shops, but the swedish site prooved us that on 23 September the sales will began and although it is about a north country the premier of the phone probably won’t be late. A month later, we should see the first phone with Windows Phone 7 by Nokia, so it makes sense for the comapny to market Nokia N9 earlier.

Nokia ‘Sea Ray’ prototype running WP7 Mango
Stephen Elop himself spilled the beans about Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 handset, codenamed Sea Ray, when he told a large live audience and some whirring video cameras that he wanted the phone to be kept “super confidential.” Now we have a whole new puddle of legumes lying on what sounds like a Chinese factory floor.
