Nokia Belle FP1 update for Nokia 701, 700 and 603

The owners of Nokia 701, 700 and 603 can now update the device software to version Nokia Belle FP1, which has many interesting changes. Firstly, the CPU clock speed is increased from 1GHz up to 1,3 GHz, which should further improve the overall performance of the devices and the optimization of memory management + the graphics system.

In addition, the Nokia Belle FP1 update brings a new and faster version of the browser, new widgets to the main screen, improvements in bar notifications, improved applications manager and Dolby Digital Plus technology. The FP1 update also includes a new versions of various applications such as Microsoft Apps and Nokia Maps Suite 2.0.

So far, the update is already started in Asia and soon will reach all European users too.

Note:

Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 will not reach the first generation of phones with Symbian ^3 (Nokia N8, C7, E7, C6-01, X7, E6), but they may acquire some of the improvements.

The Nokia 803

It’s very likely that the last Symbian device (Nokia 803 running Symbian Belle) will be revealed at the Mobile Congress. The smartphone, which is probably going to be the platforms swan song, is expected to be a successor of the Nokia N8 with even better photographical capabilities. According to the latest rumors, the device is going to have a 4″ AMOLED screen (so far it was though to have a 3.5″ one) as long as an HDMI port, microSD slot and NFC capabilities.

Nokia to only release one more Symbian device?

When they announced they’re going to use Windows Phone as their main mobile OS about one year ago, Nokia also stated, that they’re planning to sell 150 million more Symbian devices before “retiring” the platform. After they published their financial results for Q4 of 2011, they announced, that this goal may be unreachable, because of the decreasing sales of Symbian devices and the strong competition with cheaper Android phones, but the Finns assured us, that the platform would still be supported until 2016 – in just a matter of days, we’re expecting the Symbian Belle update to be released and the next one – Carla, is also on the way.

Meanwhile, rumors have it, that Nokia have abandoned work on all future Symbian phones, but one – the successor of the N8 – Nokia’s legendary smartphone, which still has one of the best cameras ever fitted on a phone. Three smartphones for technophobes

In this day and age being a technophobe can seem like a daunting thing to overcome. An aversion to changing and newer technology, whatever the reasoning behind it, can seem almost insurmountable with today’s every-improving and high-tech gadgets. Phones are no exception. Apple iPhone 4S

The interface of the iPhone features brightly colored, clearly labeled icons for making calls, checking email, viewing contacts and more. The plan required for an iPhone bundles everything into one with no confusion signing up. Plus the iPhone’s is able to easily sync with whatever information it needs with limited input from the user. A technophobe can have the iPhone up and running with only a basic understanding or desire to learn about smartphones as a whole.

HTC Senseation

The Sensation by HTC is a smartphone based on the Android platform. For the most part Android phones are best avoided by technophobes. Unlike the iPhone they feature a more open-ended and user-intensive platform that can seem daunting. But the Sensation separates itself by incorporating several normally complex features in a user-friendly and beginner-level way. Things like a flashlight app, Facebook integration and email syncing are standard and already set up. The HTC Sense is the entry-level Android choice for a technophobe.

Nokia N8

Nokia is a bit of a low-key name in the smartphone business, but their N8 smartphone is a great option for a technophobe new to the market. It’s based on Nokia’s own smartphone platform which features colorful and well-labeled icons and menus, many of which look familiar to users of older phones who have been loathe to adapt to smartphones. Media and camera features are full-fleshed and easy accessed from the main screen as well, and since it’s a Nokia the phone is not tied to one specific carrier. This makes it easier for a new user to get the phone set up with limited hassle.

The Nokia N8′s successor

The Nokia N8 is still the smartphone with the largest photo-sensor and that’s part of what makes it the best camera phone on the market. Still, the device will be 2 years old in a few months and it’s time Nokia released its successor. Rumors have it they’re working on such a device and it’s supposed to be announced in the beginning of 2012.

It’s expected to have a 3.5″ Clear Black display with WVGA resolution and Gorilla glass, an ARMv7 1 gHz processor and 512 MB of RAM. Of course its camera functions will also be improved – it will have an even bigger sensor and even optical zoom – a feature rarely seen in phones. The device is expected to run on Symbian, as it provides better camera software than Windows Phone, though that may change with Windows Phone Apollo. Nokia N8 camera software update

Very good news for all Nokia N8 owners, there is a really good update for the camera software on your phone, that brings some UI optimizations and many bug fixes!

Symbian Belle already leaked

Symbian Anna Running on Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6-01

Nokia released Symbian Anna update for the following phones: Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia C6-01. Originally, the update is available in several countries at the moment – UK, France, Italy and India, but is expected in the coming days and weeks to come all over the world.

Symbian Anna will update your phone firmware to version 22.014 (or similar depending on the model of the device). This may happen in two steps – first the system will ask you to install the update with some advance features that Anna required, then you will get with the current version. You can install the Symbian Anna update through Ovi Suite on your PC or use the built-in Nokia Software Update. The first option is better, because the update files have a size around 27MB.
