Windows Phone 7 launches in Denmark in October
According to Microsoft evangelist Martin Esmann from Microsoft Denmark, the phone will also launch in Denmark in October. However, the phone will not have a localized Marketplace, so only the international marketplace will be available. But Zune Marketplace will not be available in October in Denmark.
Denmark will be officially supported, but we’ll be forced to use the marketplace in English until the Danish translations are out.

Distribution of prices in the various app stores
Google’s Android Marketplace contains primarily free apps – 57% by Distimo’s estimate (Androlib says 62%). This is much more than the competition. Less than a third of the apps in their catalogs are free. Even so, half of apps in most app stores (save for the Windows Mobile and BlackBerry ones) are under 2 US dollars.
The Apple App Store in general has about 28% free apps, but it differs quite a bit when it comes to paid apps. The iPhone apps run around 2.62 USD (average price for the 100 most popular apps), while iPad specific apps cost 6.02 USD by the same metric. More »

The requirements for programs targetting Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 have been published on the Windows Mobile developer site (http://developer.windowsmobile.com). For the uninitiated up until now all discussion about the Windows Mobile marketplace has targetted Windows Mobile 6.5 only. It was only recently that it was announced that Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 would have access to the WM Marketplace. From the announcement that Steve Bell (Microsoft Senior Product Manager) posted:
Great news. The second version of the Application Submission Requirements for Windows® Marketplace for Mobile, version 1.1, is now live at – https://developer.windowsmobile.com/resources/en-US/Application%20Submission%20Guidelines.pdf
The document details the requirements Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1, 6.5 applications and Widgets need to meet in order to pass certification. Only applications that pass certification will be listed in the Windows Marketplace. The main difference between this document and version 1.0 are the references to test cases applying to Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1.
The requirements document is also the primary resource to use in your application development and test cycles to help ensure your applications will pass Windows Marketplace certification testing quicker and with less resource investment. Now is the perfect time to review the requirements to get your Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1, 6.5 applications and Widgets ready for Windows Marketplace submission beginning July 27, 2009.
Thanks.

Zune HD marketplace

While the screenshot leaves a lot of room for speculation, an early screen grab of the Zune HD Marketplace was posted, showing a way to purchase albums and songs. Can this be a prelude for the Marketplace for Mobile for Windows Mobile Phones? More specifically, will an easy way to fill future Windows Phones up with multimedia content be plausible with a direct download app from Microsoft?
