HTC Desire Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM
HTC Desire Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM

The old HTC Desire gets its new life too with the latest ported version of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, the ROM is cooked by dk_zero-cool @ XDA-Developers and is based on CM9 sources. The good news – this ROM supports both GSM and CDMA versions of the phone, so flash it now :)

This ROM needs at least 180mb on the /system partition. Best choice would be AplhaRev Data++ as it leaves some space on /data as well.

Missing Features

  • Camera/Recorder (However, a hack for this issue is included, but without preview)
  • USB Tethering

How-to install:

  • Remember that its good to clear dalvik-cache to avoid issues
  • This ROM is not signed, so disable signature verification before flashing
  • Do not restore app data from any older Gingerbread backups (APK’s are OK)

Note: the CM9 source is still under development. Some things will be missing, and others might at times be unstable.

HTC Desire Android 2.3 update

June 15th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Android OS, News, ROM Updates

htc-desire-android-2.3

There were a lot of rumors which said that HTC Desire will get an official update to Android 2.3. But HTC disprove them, because the model hasn’t got enough memory to fit Android 2.3 + HTC Sense interface. That is true but XDA Developers already created custom ROM‘s based on Android 2.3 with the help of new EXT partition on the SD card , so it is not impossible.

HTC Desire 2 leaked photo?

January 21st, 2011 No Comments   Posted in News

It looks like we have a possible true successor to the original HTC Desire.

The rumor is based on a recently leaked rendered photo of a new HTC device, its speculated to be none other than the HTC Desire 2. The design from the front looks very similar to the “old” Google Nexus One, but is instead completely painted in black and there is no trackball.

If you look closely on the photo, there is a front-facing camera for video calls. If this is indeed going to be the real HTC Desire 2, may be it will be preloaded with HTC Sense UI as well, since the original one used it.

Samsung Galaxy Tab docks

January 9th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Accessories, News

There are still only two docks available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab – the Galaxy Tab Multimedia Dock and the Galaxy Tab Keyboard Dock.

Galaxy Tab is perfect for watching photos and video, but there will be times where you’ll want to be able to show them to all your friends. You can of course just pass the Tab around, but why not show them off on your HD TV? The Multimedia desk dock for the Samsung Galaxy Tab has a built in HDMI port which lets you connect it to your TV quickly and easily. Just sit your Tab in the dock, sit back and enjoy photo slideshows and all your favourite videos.

CES 2011 will start next week and we expect that there will be presented the first LTE phone for U.S. from Verizon -  HTC Thunderbolt. Days before the premiere, we have some leaked information – the photos comes from Droid Life and shows a phone that has a 4.3 “screen, built-in stand and branding from Google. In hardware terms the phone is almost identical to the HTC Desire HD, so do not expect to use dual-core processor. Of course , the main prize will be added support for LTE (Long Term Evolution) standard .

SuperOneClick v1.5.5 for Android (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market Apps)

December 22nd, 2010 1 Comment   Posted in Android OS, Hacks, News

There are 3 levels of “root” we can define:
Level 1: Shell Root (with ratc rooting the adb shell but no /system write access)
Level 2: Temporary Root (/system/bin/su installed but lost on reboot)
Level 3: Full Root (/system/bin/su installed and sticks)

Some devices have a NAND lock. SuperOneClick will only give a Shell root until you remove this lock.
The following phones can use http://unrevoked.com to remove this lock:

  • Sprint EVO 4G (HTC Supersonic)
  • Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible)
  • HTC Desire GSM
  • HTC Desire CDMA (HTC BravoC)
  • HTC Aria
  • Droid Eris (HTC DesireC)
  • HTC Wildfire (HTC Buzz)

THe HTC Legend and My Touch 3G 32A also have a NAND lock and need more specific methods to unlock.

“The T-Mobile (HTC) G2 has something different which may or may not be a hardware flaw. I have yet to really research the device, but while it may root, it won’t be permanent since copying /su to /system/bin/su has problems. I believe this is a Level 2 root, but to be honest, I need to research more.”

All other devices has a Level 3 root via SuperOneClick

The program requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0+ or Mono v1.2.6+
Operations systems with native support:

  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7
  • Ubuntu Hardy (8.04 LTS)
  • Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04)

  • Ubuntu Maverick (10.10)
  • Debian Lenny (5.0)
