Windows Phone 8 Gmail Bug

Windows Phone 8 Gmail Bug

Recently, some users reported for a Gmail bug using the built-in email client in the new Windows Phone 8, while you are trying to sync your Gmail, the app is crashing without reason. The problem is with the new Google’s IMAP algorithm that was changed recently.

To fix this bug, you need to change the tick box what to be synchronized – from “Email, contacts and calendar” to “Email only”, after the changes you will not be able to sync all the contacts and calendars with Gmail, but everything will be stable.

As Google continues to restrict its work on projects that are not particularly promising. Their new decision, however, is really surprising. The company said that from November 22 they will stop the support of the official Gmail app for BlackBerry devices. After that date, the app will not be available for download and Google will stop any developing and updates for it, but those who have already installed it on their phones will be able to enjoy it. The rest will have to rely on a web application that Google will continue to improve.

Google shutting down Google Labs

google-labs

Google have announced they’re going to shut down Google Labs – the experimental division, which developed a lot of great and fun to use applications. The reason is that the company want to focus all their efforts on their future ideas and already existing products. All of Google Labs‘ already developed apps will remain and they might even be united, but Google haven’t yet announced if we can expect new versions and improvements. Other experimental channels like Gmail Labs and Maps Labs will continue working. B.A.

More Windows Phone 7 news

July 24th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in News, Reviews, Windows Phone 7 Series

Some fresh news from the German ZDNet video presentation where guest Greg Sullivan – Senior Product Manager for Windows Phone takes on a short journey with his Samsung Taylor Windows Phone 7 device.

Some of the interesting bits that we didn’t quite see before include a demonstration of HTML e-mail (1:58) and we see that Outlook is capable of delivering the rich e-mail experience of HTML e-mail from any Exchange, POP or IMAP source. As far as calendars are concerned, Windows Phone 7 will handle multiple Calendars (2:19) with Exchange, GMail, Windows Live and it will distinguish between them by using different (customizable we add) colors so the user will know, at a glance, where that certain appointment is coming from.

Motorola Charm – officially announced for T-Mobile

July 7th, 2010 1 Comment   Posted in Android OS, News

Motorola finally confirmed what we’ve been expecting for the last few weeks, a new MOTOBLUR handset is headed for T-Mobile.  Officially dubbed the Charm, it is the first device in the United States to come with the new version of MOTOBLUR.  Features include a 2.8-inch touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard, and a BACKTRACK navigation pad on the back of the handset.  Much like it does for the Backflip, the pad allows for an unobstructed view of the screen for a better browsing, texting, and gaming experience. Other features found in the phone include Adobe Flash Lite, a 3-megapixel camera, pinch zooming, multi-touch, and corporate email capability.

The Android 2.1-powered Charm is officially due “this summer” which could mean any day now.  Unfortunately a price wasn’t announced for the device but we’re hearing both $75 after rebate as well as free for back-to-school promotions.

The future of Windows Mobile?

May 28th, 2010 2 Comments   Posted in News

Some bits of what’s happen with Windows Mobile, may be it’s the end?

“Adobe kills Flash Player 10.1 for Windows Mobile 6.5, smitten with Windows Phone 7 Series”

“If you’re not feeling a bit sorry for the aging Windows Mobile platform, you should be. With Windows Phone 7 completely overshadowing Windows Mobile 6.5 and Adobe confirming the death of Flash 10.1 for WinMo, the stylus-happy smartphone operating system of yester-year is being kicked to the curb left and right.”

I keep reading negative headlines for Windows Mobile, and I think it won’t be long before most phone manufacturers choose Android as their OS, therefore making windows mobile redundant.

In my opinion Microsoft is going in the wrong direction. They abandoning everything that made the platform great to focus on interface and dumb down the OS (iPhone alike, crap!). In a nutshell it’s the Pocket PC devolved from a tiny computer into a mere feature phone. They have already lost a great deal of 3rd party developer (professional and amateurs, most freeware devs and hackers got off now). The lack of quality freeware and OS content is what will utterly drive the users to Android.

The real story about Android and Windows Mobile:

Android: If you make something easy to use and people will come running, and give up their privacy and data on the way. Google is giving you “free” updates because Android is a platform for Google to sell it’s services – Gmail, Calendar etc.
Windwos Mobile – most people don’t actually use Windows Mobile. They just push the buttons. Windows Mobile is a platform too, a business platform. You need a business built around MS technologies to take advantage of it’s true value.
