BirthdayCake2 – blow out the candles with your phone’s mic

Inspired by the Wuvuzela app (and possibly by the announcement of Portal 2 at E3), Jaxbot developed a simple little Windows Mobile application that allows you to blow into your phone’s microphone to blow out candles on a cake.

You can also enable the tune, which will play the Happy birthday tune after blowing out the candles. Finally, you can change the preset message to something more personal, such as “Happy Birthday, Michele!”

Here’s the B&N eReader app for Windows Mobile from the HD2 NRG ROM, now it’s .cab ready.

Tapping on the ebook from the homescreen gives you an overview of the book and even more detail if tapped again (pics below). You can also shop for more ebooks. You are actually again brought to your browser to shop and if you pick a book when you go back to the app you push ‘sync’ and then it appears in your list to download. When you start the app it also auto-syncs.

How-to format the internal memory on your HTC Diamond

What is TASK29 and MTT:

When you flash a rom, you are copying files onto the internal memory but if you repeatadly flash different roms, sometimes files from older version stays behind as when you flash a rom, you just copy and sometimes overwrite files without deleting the older ones. Hence at times these older files may create bugs or instability, hardrest do not always fix it, so we use MTTY for full memory format. But the thing is, MTTY is and can be hard to use for new users, so here is a tool to do this operation:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Download and unzip.
2. Run then ROMUpdateUtility.exe and wait for it to finish.
3. Device will reboot but will neva go past the bootscreen coz there is no OS to boot.
4. Take out the battery and then flash a rom using mSD card or by taking device into bootloader and using customRUU to load ur favorite RO.

How to install:

HTC has reported a 41% sales increase

The Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has reported a 41% sales increase for the first six months of 2010. Year-on-year revenues to the end of June increased from 69.8bn Taiwanese dollars (£1.4bn, $2.1bn) to 98.2bn Taiwanese dollars (£2bn, $3bn). Figures for the most recent three months reflected record sales, according to HTC.  On the Taiwanese stock exchange, shares in HTC closed up 5% at 495 Taiwanese dollars (£10, $15).

Microsoft coins $1.2 billion on Xbox Live

Microsoft has one high-profile non-Windows related consumer success, that being the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live.

Analysts now report that the Xbox Live aspect of the console raked in a cool $1.2 billion last year, up $400 million from the year earlier, and that for the first time the majority of this sum is from online purchases rather than subscription fees, indicating the various marketplaces associated with the console has caught on with owners, beyond just paying for online game play.

“Xbox Live has helped sell a lot of consoles and created a lot of loyalty,” said Matt Rosoff, an analyst at Directions on Microsoft in Kirkland, Washington. “Everyone has been talking about Microsoft’s inability to innovate, but this is a pretty good example where they have innovated. They timed it just right with this one.”

Windows Phone 7 is set to be the first time Microsoft is extending its Xbox Live universe to other parts of the ecosystem, with the device having access to the compelling social network around game play, and also the 800 Xbox Live Arcade games being easily portable to the handsets.

With the iPhone (and especially the iPod Touch) rapidly challenging old handheld stalwarts like the Nintendo DS Microsoft should consider pushing the Xbox Live angle much harder that it is at present, and certainly work at bringing its most compelling feature -  multi-person online game play – to the handset as soon as possible.

Toshiba TG01 hack – phone reset mapped to power button

This is a cab file which overwrites the standard PowerOffHint.exe in the Windows directory with a copy of JWMD Phone Reset version 1.2b.
