April 26th, 2012 No Comments   Posted in Android OS, iOS, News, Software

After months of rumors about Google’s cloud service, known as Drive, it has finally been released. The applications allows not only storing files, such as pictures, music, etc., online, but also makes them available for viewing and downloading from multiple devices – currently it’s supported by Windows, Mac and Android with iPhone, iPad and Linux versions coming soon. Google Drive comes with 5GB of free storage space and, of course, you can upgrade your account later on. Prices start from just $2.49 per month for 25GB, through $4.99 for 100GB and than continue to go up by $5 for every 100GB. The largest amount of space you can get is 16TB, which is going to set you back by $799.99 monthly.

Thanks to its integration with Google’s other services, Drive is going to be especially appealing to people, who already use such Google services and/or have an Android device. Some of these tempting features are the integration with Google Docs, which allows different users to comment on and even edit the same document simultaneously. Some other interesting features are the possibility to attach documents, which are stored online, to emails and Drive’s ability to recognize text in scanned documents and search for certain words or phrases. Google’s cloud storage service, known as Drive, is going to launch within days, according to The Next Web, who have received a draft release from a partner of Google’s upcoming Google Drive service, which contained information about all major details about the service, which is expected to be released next week and will be available at http://drive.google.com . Google are planning to offer each user 5GB of storage space for free. That’s quite a lot more than their main competitor, Dropbox, currently have to offer, but then again, with Dropbox there are easy ways of getting some more space. Drive will, of course, offer additional space, but its price remains unknown so far. The service will be available for Windows and Mac, with Android and iOS clients also being released at the same time.

The cloud service market is currently growing rapidly, with companies such as Apple, Amazon and Microsoft already offering their own solutions and Dropbox partnering with HTC and Samsung in order to become more popular with mobile users, so its going to be very interesting to see if Google can make it. NEC LT-W Cloud Communicator – dual screen Android tablet

January 6th, 2011 No Comments   Posted in Android OS, News

NEC LT-W Cloud Communicator Android powered tablet, has two 7″ resistive touchscreens with 600×800 resolution, and is running Android 2.1. Other than that, the specs list includes a 3MP camera, accelerometer, speaker, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, SDHC, GPS and optional 3G.

Some of NEC’s sample apps make decent use of the dual display setup, but nothing blew us away – and more importantly, everything seemed just a little too jerky for a Cortex-A8 core.
