On Android devices, you get some pretty clear and clean icons in the taskbar area, on Windows Mobile, they’re not as nice. Thanks to an easy tweak from XDA, you can apply a CAB to get a full Android like taskbar and icons.

The device runs MOTOBLUR on top of Android 1.5 and is designed as a slate/tablet form factor for T-Mobile. Specs-wise, it uses a similar processor to the MOTO CLIQ. What’s notable is that Motorola included two back battery covers. There’s a textured rubberized back that feels really good in the hands in classic black as well as a smooth, metallic purple finish for a spunkier day.

The high-end HTC Incredible, sporting Android 2.1 and running possibly a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor with a WVGA display. The device will have an optical trackpad and may be a close competitor to the GSM-based HTC Desire.

Huawei shows off a new Android OS tablet, which is expected to be on the market in May this year and will use Android (version 1.6 according to the menu). The device has a 7 “display + Wi-Fi and 3G modules and you will be able to make calls (so it’s a phone?!), also the device supports HD video and has a very nice interface. This is the only available information at the moment, but this device looks really cool.

This is for all people who want to try the Android OS on their HTC Touch Pro2 devices!

This is currently the best working Android ROM we can get going on the HTC Touch Pro2. It is far from complete, but every day the XDAndroid Devs have breakthroughs which bring us closer to a full working port. Full data is working , including Marketplace, Geo-Locations, and all Sync options. If data is not working fully perhaps check your APN settings (HERE). The USB charger will work, but the battery meter does not function properly, it will almost always show 100%.

This one enables picking the install location (storage card, main memory) which puts it ahead of Android which lacks that without third party software (such as Apps2SD) and also enables a picker for choosing with countries marketplace you want to use.

SPB Software announced Mobile Shell 5.0 today at MWC for Windows Mobile, Android and Symbian. It brings a new 3D engine, Natural Interaction Engine, 3D Widgets, SPB UI Builder, and thorough social network integration. We were able to get a quick demo of version 5.0 for Android earlier, but now we’re seeing video of the Windows Mobile version.

If you want to have an app so we could easily boot into both Windows Mobile & Android, and Gen.Y DualBOOT was the solution. This release is made for VGA devices, and supports booting Android both from Internal Storage (moviNAND, e.g. Touch Diamond) & Storage Card (SDMemory, e.g. Touch Pro). WVGA version and QVGA version is also ready. This app has been tested on WM6.1, but will work perfectly on WM6.5.x as well.

Folks over at AllDroid have managed to overclock the Motorola Droid phone to 1.1Ghz, hence making it faster than the “stock” Nexus One which is powered by 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. The test was carried out by testing Droid with different clock speeds (800Mhz, 900Mhz, 1Ghz, 1.1Ghz) after which it was found to be running most stable at 800Mhz.

Here are 3 intirim releases I used when compiling the info in this post, where the 600MHz slot was replaced with 800MHz, 900MHz, and 1GHz respectivly. 800MHz seems rock solid, as did 900MHz, 1GHz was only tested for 5 minutes. 1.1 seems a touch unstable so it’s going to be left for when cpufreq and etc get more slots added.

Google, seems, is having some teething problems suppress its foray into the topsy-turvy world of mobile handsets. From unhappy foursome to unhappy customers, the research giant has been having a rough occasion veil its Nexus One, currently the incomparable Android phone on the vend. wherefore much so that GigaOM Pro Mobile curator Colin Gibbs wondered if it was time for Google to kill Nexus One. In a recent interview with CNET Asia, Motorola’s General Manager for the region has stated that all of the 20-30 smartphones to be released in 2010 will run Android:

“There will be between 20 and 30 smartphones globally and, at this moment, all of them will run Android. Naturally, not all will be available everywhere as it depends on the company’s partnership with the various telco operators in each country. For non-smartphone models, they will run either Brew or the Motorola’s own operating system.”

Тhe Android installation is running from a Linux bootloader and isn’t stable enough for day-to-day use (not to mention the lack of support for cellular data or WiFi), it’s super easy to get going and allows you to experience a lot of Android from your Windows Mobile device. After completing its purchase of AdMob, a firm that places mobile ads, Google says it will place ads with its mobile applications on smartphones, which may include Android, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, and Symbian apps. Google currently makes multiple applications for many different operating systems, including Google Maps, Google Search, and Google Voice among a few others. Be prepared for ads to start sprouting up on more mobile applications soon as Google attempts to replicate its success with browser and desktop advertising in the mobile space.

A mere two days after its release, Android 2.0 SDK has already been ripped from the womb and ported over to a T-Mobile G1. Currently in the most crude state possible, the cooked ROM runs as quickly as Babe Ruth did at his heaviest (and drunkest).The mere fact it’s able to run without melting the G1 and its 192MB of RAM, though, should give hope that the fine folks over at XDA-Developers will be able iron out enough wrinkles to make it usable as a daily driver.

We’ll post our first impressions and quick review a little bit later after we’ve had more time to play with the device and test the Exchange settings. There are some rumblings on the Internet among some media reviewers that Exchange wasn’t working on the Droid.

The Moment doesn’t come without its own quirks. The keyboard’s keys and spacebar button will take some use to as the “A” key is pushed over with the placement of the blue Function button. Also, I prefer the HTC Sense UI experience over the vanilla build of Android 1.5, though the positive side is that the OS seems zippy without all the HTC customizations. That said, with Android 1.5, you won’t get multitouch nor will you get double tap to zoom within the web browser. In general, the Android implementation of the browser is kind of slow and won’t win any speed records, despite the faster 800 MHz processor (compared to the 500+ MHz on the HTC Hero on Sprint).

Tips & Tricks
Power Managment:
Disable Auto adjust backlight in Windows (Setting->System->Power->Blacklight). By disabling Auto backlight in windows will let Android control blacklight save lot of power usage.

Look & Feel:
After selecting wallpaper you will get a screen with box on wallpaper which u have selected. Click and hold on inside corner of the square box and resize fully for a good quality wallpaper.
