Nokia is focused on Windows Phone 7 devices

The new closer partnership of Nokia and Microsoft will affect on different companies and one of them is the manufacturer of mobile chips – ST-Ericsson. Representative of the company confirmed to Reuters, that they will focus seriously on the Windows Phone 7 platform. So far, all the phones with WP7 rely on chips from Qualcomm, but according to the head of ST-Ericsson this will be changed. ST-Ericsson is joint venture between Ericsson and STMicroelectronics and is among the main supplier of components for all Nokia phones.

The company already optimized a dual-core platform U8500 for Symbian and MeeGo, but there is still no product on the market that use it. Recently, Nokia has confirmed that will continue to offer phones with Symbian and powerful processors.
